♂François Tourault

François Tourault was a Frenchman whose name survives only in the record of his daughter, Françoise Tourault, who crossed to New France in the 1640s with her husband, Jacques Archambault, and died at Montréal. He was the twelfth great-grandfather of Nancy Jane Blanchard (1929–2006), through his daughter Françoise Tourault.

The Fichier Origine, a register-verified compilation of immigrants’ origins kept by the Quebec federation of genealogical societies, names François Tourault and Marthe Noire as the parents of Françoise Tourault and gives her place of origin as Saint-Amant-de-Boixe, in Charente, in the old province of Angoumois^W. The compilation does not date the family’s time there, and no parish register naming the couple has yet been read; the dates of their births, marriage and deaths are not known. According to the same compilation, their daughter had seven children born or baptised at Dompierre-sur-Mer, near La Rochelle, between 1630 and 1644, all of whom went to New France except Louise, who died in France. The compilation also notes that a commemorative plaque was placed in 1988 in the church of Saint-Pierre at Dompierre-sur-Mer.
