♀Jeanne Charas

Jeanne Charas was the wife of a merchant named Le Camus and the mother of Élisabeth Le Camus, a Parisian who married at Montréal in 1659. She was the tenth great-grandmother of Nancy Jane Blanchard (1929–2006), through her daughter Élisabeth Le Camus (born about 1645).

The index of the record of the marriage of their daughter Élisabeth Le Camus to Louis Guertin at Montréal, in the parish of Notre-Dame, on 26 October 1659, gives her origin as Paris and names her parents as a merchant written only as Lecamus, with no forename, and Jeanne Charas. Tanguay’s dictionary instead names her parents as Pierre Le Camus, a physician, and Jeanne Charles, of Paris. This page follows the register. Most of the parish registers of Paris from before 1860 were destroyed in the fires of the Paris Commune^W in 1871, so the Paris records that could settle the question largely do not survive. The records used here say nothing more of her life.
