Susannah Levett was the daughter of Joseph Levett of York, Maine, and the second wife of the Rev. John Hovey, minister of Arundel, now Kennebunkport. She was the sixth great-grandmother of Nancy Jane Blanchard (1929–2006), through her daughter Susannah Hovey (1737–before 1800).
A Hovey family genealogy published in 1913 records that she married John Hovey “in or before 1736”, while he was schoolmaster and preacher at York. Their daughter Susannah was baptised at the First Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in September 1737, and a son John in January 1739. The family moved to Arundel when her husband was ordained there in 1741, and she survived him at his death in 1773. The records found so far give no date for her birth or death.
