Jeanne Trahan (born about 1631) was an Acadian woman of Port-Royal, the wife of the surgeon Jacob Bourgeois and the mother of a large family. She was the ninth great-grandmother of Floyd Amatus Delahorne (1922–2014), through her daughter Anne Bourgeois (1660–1747).
Life
In the Port-Royal census of 1671 she was 40, the wife of “Jacob Bourgeois, Surgeon, 50”, with two married children, Charles and Jeanne, and eight more at home, the youngest four years old. In 1686 the couple were listed again, she aged 57, with several of their married daughters on the same roll, including Anne, the wife of Rene LeBlanc.
Notes
Her place as Anne’s mother rests on the same censuses as her husband’s; no act naming Anne’s parents survives. Her own parents are not established here. Online family trees give her death about 1699; that has not been checked against a record.
