♂Jehan Laporte

Jehan Laporte (married 8 March 1615) was a Frenchman whose son Jacques Delaporte settled at Ars on the Île de Ré, where his grandchildren were baptised as Catholics from 1642. He was the eleventh great-grandfather of Nancy Jane Blanchard (1929–2006), through his son Jacques Delaporte (born about 1615).

The Fichier Origine, a published file of the origins of Québec’s settlers, reports that Jehan Laporte and Judith Rodon married on 8 March 1615 at the Protestant temple of La Rochelle, which would make the family Huguenot in origin; that register has not been seen here. The same file names them as the paternal grandparents of Renee Delaporte and her sister Marie-Anne, who crossed to Québec in 1665. Their son Jacques was buried at Ars on 3 September 1663, aged 48, which places his birth about 1615; by the time his own children were baptised, from 1642, the family worshipped at the Catholic church of St-Étienne d’Ars. The records do not explain the change. No record of Jehan’s birth, parents, trade or death has been found, and the file names no parents for him.
