♀Catherine Delobret

Catherine Delobret was a Frenchwoman known only through the two marriages of her son Jacques Dugue, a surgeon at Trois-Rivières in New France. She was the ninth great-grandmother of Nancy Jane Blanchard (1929–2006), through her son Jacques Dugue (born about 1647).

She was the wife of Michel Dugay. When Jacques married Jeanne Baudry at Trois-Rivières on 21 November 1672, the register named him as the son of Michel Dugay and Catherine Delobret, of the parish of Notre-Dame at Semur-en-Auxois in the diocese of Autun. When he married Anne Baillargeon there on 29 April 1709, the priest wrote her surname “Loubert” and called Jacques the son of the late Michel Dugay “de Dolle”, of the parish of Notre-Dame of Dole. A nineteenth-century genealogical dictionary gives her name as “Catherine de Lebret”. The records do not explain why the two registers name different towns. No marriage of Michel Dugay and Catherine Delobret appears in the Dole marriage register from December 1643 to November 1645, and the Dole marriage registers that survive begin only in December 1643. No baptism of Jacques has been found at Semur-en-Auxois for 1646 and 1647, or at Dole from January 1646 to March 1647. Her parents, and the dates of her birth and death, are not known.
