Francoise Gaudet (born about 1623) was an Acadian woman of Port-Royal, the wife of Daniel LeBlanc and the mother of a large family. She was the ninth great-grandmother of Floyd Amatus Delahorne (1922–2014), through her son Rene LeBlanc (died before 1747).
Life
In the Port-Royal census of 1671 she was 48, the wife of Daniel LeBlanc, a farmer of 45, with a married daughter, Francoise, and six sons at home: Jacques, Estienne, Rene, Andre, Antoine and Pierre. In 1686 the couple were still at Port-Royal, their son Rene’s household listed beside theirs, and in 1693 she was living with Daniel, their son Pierre and his child.
Her recorded age does not add up from one census to the next: 48 in 1671, 60 in 1686, but 76 in 1693. The records do not explain the jump.
Notes
Her place as Rene’s mother rests on the same censuses as his father’s; no act naming Rene’s parents survives. Online family trees date her death to about 1699; that has not been checked against a record.
