♂Jacques Boissel

Jacques Boissel was the father of Marguerite Boissel, who married at Notre-Dame de Québec in 1657. He was the tenth great-grandfather of Nancy Jane Blanchard (1929–2006), through his daughter Marguerite Boissel.

When Marguerite married Etienne Bouchard, a surgeon of Mont-Royal, at Notre-Dame de Québec on 6 August 1657, the index of the register named her parents as Jacques Boissel, written Boesel in the register, and Marie Héribert. Tanguay’s dictionary describes him as a butcher at Québec, born about 1601, and places his marriage to Marie Éripert or Héripel at Québec in 1639; it gives Marguerite’s baptism at Québec on 20 September 1643 and lists other children baptised there between 1640 and 1655, among them Noël and Guillaume. Benjamin Sulte’s history of the French Canadians counts him among the settlers who arrived at Québec before 1640. The records found so far do not give his parents, his place of origin or the date of his death.
