♂Jean Vacquemoulin

Jean Vacquemoulin was the father of Médarde Vaquemoulin, the wife of the master wood-turner Philippe Pichon of Paris, and the grandfather of Marie Pichon, who settled at Québec in New France. He was the twelfth great-grandfather of Nancy Jane Blanchard (1929–2006), through his daughter Médarde Vaquemoulin.

All that is known of him comes from one clause of the Fichier Origine, a register-verified compilation of the origins of the settlers of New France: its entry for his granddaughter Marie Pichon names her maternal grandparents as Jean Vacquemoulin and Jeanne Morel, and the same entry writes their daughter’s surname Vaquemoulin. It gives no dates or places for them. The nearest dated fact is the marriage contract of their daughter Médarde Vaquemoulin and Philippe Pichon, made at Paris on 28 December 1588, which places Jean and Jeanne’s own lives in the sixteenth century. Nothing further is known of them.
