♀Marie Gautier

Marie Gautier (born 2 May 1660) was the wife of François Quintal, an immigrant from La Rochelle who settled at Boucherville in New France. She was the eighth great-grandmother of Nancy Jane Blanchard (1929–2006), through her son François Quintal (1682–).

She was born and baptised on 2 May 1660 at Notre-Dame de Québec, the daughter of Charles Gautier and Catherine Camus, who had married in the same parish on 1 August 1656. She married François Quintal at Québec, in the parish of Notre-Dame, on 17 October 1678; the register describes her as single and names her parents as Charles Gautier and the late Catherine Lecamus, so her mother had died by then. The marriage was performed by the curé of Québec, Henri de Bernières^W. The census of 1681 found the couple at Boucherville, Marie aged 21 and her husband 35. An earlier family compilation gave her birth as 1 May 1660; the baptism register shows 2 May. Her son François was born at Boucherville on 6 June 1682 and baptised the same day. Her husband died there on 3 February 1715, aged seventy according to his burial record. The records read give no date for her own death.
