♂Pierre Lefebvre

Pierre Lefebvre was a colonist at Trois-Rivières, in New France, where his daughter Elisabeth was baptised on 15 May 1651. He was the tenth great-grandfather of Nancy Jane Blanchard (1929–2006), through his daughter Elisabeth Lefebvre (born 1651).

The register of the parish of the Immaculée-Conception at Trois-Rivières, as indexed, records the baptism of Elisabeth, daughter of Pierre Lefebvre and Jeanne Nounau, on 15 May 1651. Her godparents were Fafard Laframboise and Marie Leneuf, and the priest was the Jesuit René Ménard^W. Trois-Rivières was then a small fur-trading post on the St. Lawrence, founded in 1634, and in those years it lay open to Iroquois raids during the Beaver Wars^W; in 1652 its governor was killed in a fight with an Iroquois war party close to the settlement.

Tanguay’s genealogical dictionary gives Pierre as born about 1616 and names his wife Jeanne Aunois, born about 1621. It credits the couple with eight children, with dated baptisms running from 1648 to 1661, and gives Elisabeth’s baptism on the same day as the register. Among the others, Tanguay has Catherine marrying Antoine Trotier, Jacques marrying Marie Baudry at Trois-Rivières in 1670, and two sons, Michel and Ignace, marrying into the Trotier family in 1682 and 1683. Elisabeth became the wife of the surgeon Félix Tune dit Dufresne of Batiscan.

The page of the 1651 register itself has not been read, and the index spells the mother’s surname Nounau where Tanguay has Aunois; the records do not settle which form she used. Tanguay records Jeanne’s burial at Trois-Rivières on 11 February 1697 but gives no marriage and no death for Pierre, and his parents and his origin in France have not been found.
