♀Jeanne Bertin

Jeanne Bertin (fl. 1615) was the wife of Jean Baudry of Luché, in what is now the Sarthe in France, and the mother of Urbain Baudry, a maker of edge tools who settled at Trois-Rivières in New France. She was the tenth great-grandmother of Nancy Jane Blanchard (1929–2006), through her son Urbain Baudry (1615–1682). She is known from a single record: the entry in the parish register of Luché for 6 January 1615, when the vicar baptised “Urbain filz de Jehan Baudry & de Jehanne Bertin sa femme” at the font of the church there. Jehan and Jehanne are the older spellings of Jean and Jeanne. The godfather was Marin Cureau, and the vicar wrote that both godparents were “de ceste paroisse”, of the same parish. Urbain is the only child of Jean Baudry and Jeanne Bertin known. He came to New France in 1645 and died at Trois-Rivières in 1682. Her parents are not known, and no record of her birth, marriage or death has been found; the Luché register has been read only for her son’s baptism.
