♂Pierre Galien

Pierre Galien (born 16 October 1683) was born at Beauport, in New France, married Marie Mourier at St-Jean on the Île d’Orléans in 1704, and raised a family at Québec and later at Lachine. He was the seventh great-grandfather of Floyd Amatus Delahorne (1922–2014), through his daughter Angélique Gallien (born 1713).

Early life

He was born on 16 October 1683 and baptised the next day at Beauport (Nativité-de-Notre-Dame), son of Robert Gallien and Anne Masson, written Galien and Macon in the register. His parents had married at Québec on 8 September 1670; the act names his father as a native of Valleville, in the diocese of Lisieux^W, and his mother as a native of Moitiers-d’Allonne, in the diocese of Coutances^W. The couple’s children were baptised at Québec in 1671 and 1672 and at Beauport from 1681 to 1689. His mother’s burial at Québec, on 13 September 1710, is in the register of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec^W, and the dictionary of Cyprien Tanguay^W gives his father’s burial at Beauport on 29 September 1711.

Marriage and family

Pierre Galien married Marie Mourier at St-Jean on the Île d’Orléans on 25 June 1704. The index of the act names the groom’s parents as Galien and Anne Macon and the bride’s as Mourier and Marie Minau, and records that the act itself is torn. The bride was the daughter of Jean Mourier and Marie Minaud, baptised at St-Jean in 1688. Acts of the couple are indexed at St-Jean in 1705 and 1707; their son Pierre Noël was baptised at Québec in 1710 and their daughter Marie Angélique there on 2 August 1713, and Marie Louise, Marie Josèphe and Jean Baptiste were baptised at Lachine in 1717, 1719 and 1721. Their daughter Angélique married Jean Perodeau at Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue on 22 January 1731, and the act names her parents as Pierre Galien and Marie Mourier. The records read so far do not show when or where he died.
